Targeted Amex Platinum Schwab card with 100,000 MR sign-up offer

Charles Schwab is currently running a targeted 100k Membership Rewards sign-up offer for their Amex Platinum card.  If you're a Schwab account holder, you can check if you were selected for this offer here, and then login in to your Schwab account.  The standard sign-up bonus for both the Schwab and Amex personal version of the Platinum card is 60k, so this is a great sign-up bonus if you are fortunate enough to be targeted.  The Schwab card carries all of the benefits of the personal version:

  • Access to the Global Lounge Collection
  • Priority Pass lounge access (excluding restaurants)
  • $100 annual Saks Fifth Avenue credit
  • $200 annual airline credit
  • $200 annual Uber credit
  • Global Entry or TSA Precheck credit
  • Access to the exclusive Amex Fine Resorts and Hotels collection
  • Marriott Bonvoy Gold elite status
  • Hilton Honors Gold elite status

In addition, the Schwab Amex Platinum card has a few benefits over the personal version, including a $100 annual statement credit for holding a Schwab balance of +$250k and a $200 annual credit for a balance of +$1 million.  Membership Rewards points can also be deposited into your Schwab account at a value of 1.25 cents each, so the 100k sign-up bonus is worth at least $1,250.  However, this may not be the best use of your points as 95k MR can be redeemed for a roundtrip business class flight to Asia w/stopover.

The card has been taken a beating recently though with the loss of Priority Pass restaurant access and the inability to use the $200 annual airline credit for airline gift cards.  However, the Amex Platinum still remains one of the best cards out there in terms of benefits and credits.  As you can see, the annual credits alone, which add up to $500, already almost cover the $550 annual fee.  Hilton Honors Gold elite status can also be matched over to Caesars Rewards Diamond status, which opens up a slew of benefits at Caesar's properties.

The 100k offer was e-mailed out to eligible Schwab account holders with the heading “LIMITED TIME ONLY: Exclusive 100K Points Offer”.  A number of non-targeted account holders were able to get the 100k application page to show after clicking on the promo page and logging into their Schwab accounts, though it remains uncertain if they will be eligible.  This offer expires soon on September 30th, 2019, so if you were targeted, don't delay on applying.
