EASY DEAL: $20 off at Amazon w/$50 Amex purchase

Amex and Amazon have partnered to offer a great deal where you get a $20 promotional credit after making a single purchase of $50+ with your Amex consumer card.  This offer is different from previous Amex deals where you typically get a certain percentage off your purchase when you redeem Membership Rewards points.



The $50+ single purchase needs be made by your Amex consumer credit card on items sold and shipped by Amazon.com or Amazon Digital Services LLC by July 22, 2020.  The $20 promotional credit will then be e-mailed to you, and must be redeemed by August 22, 2020 on items offered through their Moments Store, which is a collection of thousands of Amazon items rated 4+ stars.


Under the terms and conditions, Amazon gift cards are excluded for the $50+ purchase.  However, 3rd party gift card purchases should work.  This can actually be combined with the current Amex Offer of 5x MR points that also ends on July 22, 2020.

To qualify:

  1. Add products that are shipped and sold by Amazon to your Shopping Cart and check out by July 22, 2020; only items that are sold and shipped by Amazon.com or Amazon Digital Services LLC qualify for this promotion (look for "sold by Amazon.com" or "sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC" on the product detail page). Purchases of Amazon e-gift cards do not qualify for this promotion.
  2. Spend $50 or more on a single purchase using any eligible American Express Consumer Card.
  3. If you remove any of the participating promotional items from your Shopping Cart or violate any of the terms and conditions listed below, your order will no longer qualify for the promotion.
  4. If you return any of the items involved in the promotion, Amazon reserves the right to remove the promotional credit.

Quick thoughts

This is an easy and valuable deal if you have any Amex consumer credit card.  Many of us have been buying through Amazon regularly especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it shouldn't be a problem for us to make a single $50+ purchase by July 22, especially given the number of 3rd party gift cards that Amazon sells.

Park Hyatt Sydney review

For our trip to Australia's east coast, we started off with a 4-night stay in Sydney.  We decided to stay at the Park Hyatt Sydney as it has been consistently rated as one of the best Hyatt luxury properties worldwide.  The hotel, located in the heart of Sydney Harbor at the Rocks, is famous for its stunning views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
