BEST EVER: Alaska Airlines credit card sign-up bonus increased to 65,000 miles!!

For the month of September 2020, Alaska Airlines is increasing the sign-up bonus for their Bank of America co-branded card to 65,000 miles!!  The 65k bonus is 2-tiered as you earn 40k miles and Alaska Air's Companion Fare after spending $2,000 within the first 3 months, and another 25k after spending $8,000 total ($6,000 in addition to the $2,000) in the first 6 months.  This represents the best ever sign-up bonus, and far eclipses the normal offer of 40k miles.  The card comes also features the following benefits:

  • Annual Companion Fare, which allows you to add a companion to your paid flight to anywhere Alaska Air flies for just $99 plus taxes and fees from $22
  • Free checked bag on Alaska flights for you and up to six other guests on the same reservation
  • Get 20% back on Alaska Airlines inflight purchases when you use your card
  • Receive 50% off Alaska Lounge day passes when you use your card
  • No foreign exchange transaction fees
  • Earn 3 miles for every $1 spent on eligible Alaska Airlines purchase
  • Earn 1 mile for every $1 spent on all other purchases

The card does have an annual fee of $75, which is not waived for the first year.  However, the card is probably worth holding onto for the long run with the annual Companion Fare, which is useful when traveling to destinations such as Hawaii.  Regardless of your paid fare, the Companion Fare will always be $99 plus taxes and fees.

Alaska Air miles are hands down one of the best currencies out there, and you will soon be able to redeem Alaska Air miles for OneWorld airlines as Alaska Air will be joining OneWorld by year's end.  Currently, you can still redeem with partners such as Cathay Pacific from the contiguous U.S. to Asia for just 50k each way in business class and just 70k for their legendary first class product.

Fly on Cathay Pacific's legendary first class to Asia for just 70k Alaska Air miles each way

Bottom line

This is hands down the best credit card offer ever from Alaska Air.  Alaska Air miles are worth at least 1.8 cents each, so the 65k sign-up bonus is worth around $1,170.  Last week, Alaska Air also followed the other 3 major U.S. carriers' leads by eliminating change fees on all flights within their network, thus giving you far more flexibility when you book with them.  This increased sign up offer ends on October 1, 2020, so don't delay!
