Earn 5x on grocery store purchases with Chase cards!

While Chase has excelled in offering bonus cashback on categories like restaurant, travel, and gas purchases with their cards, one of the areas where they've been deficient on are grocery store purchases.  And as Citi just announced changes to their Premier card that will soon earn 3x on grocery store purchases, the ball is now in Chase's court.  And Chase just delivered with flying colors by offering either 5x or 3x on grocery store purchases for their annual fee cards through June 30, 2020!

There is a cap of $1,500 on grocery store spending per card, per month.  This means that if you have multiple Chase cards, you could combine the monthly cap to $3,000 for 2 cards, $4,500 for 3 cards, and so on.

Bottom line

Although it's a limited time promo good through June 30, it's great to see Chase finally offer bonus grocery store cashback on their annual fee cards.  This also comes at a very convenient time for most of us as we are spending a substantial amount at grocery stores during the COVID-19 pandemic.  No activation is required and the maximum caps are generous, so it's a no-brainer to start using your Chase cards at grocery stores unless you have the Amex Gold card, which always earns 4x at grocery stores, or the Chase Freedom, which earns 5x at grocery stores this quarter only.
