Amazon 20% off with 1 Amex Membership Rewards point!

It's back: Amazon is offering 20% off on purchases if you just use 1 Amex Membership Rewards point!  The total discount is capped at $50 and is good for multiple purchases, so you can spend up to $250 to max out the discount.  The promo ends on February 29, 2020, but it can get pulled at any time and is limited to the first 80,000 customers.




To take advantage of this awesome deal, go to the offer page and click on Activate now.  This appears to be a targeted offer, but it's looking like nearly all Amex MR cardholders are eligible.  Even if you don't need to buy anything from Amazon right now, third party gift cards are eligible, but not Amazon gift cards.  Amazon sells a wide array of third party gift cards like Starbucks, Uber, iTunes, Safeway, etc., so this would definitely be a good way for you to max out the $50 total discount.

Quick thoughts

It's great to see this deal return for Amazon.  Remember to only use 1 Amex MR for your purchases since redeeming Amex MR for Amazon purchases is one of the worst uses of MR points.  This deal should be pretty easy to max out with all the third party gift cards that Amazon sells.  Since it's limited to the first 80,000 redemptions, don't delay!

Park Hyatt Sydney review

For our trip to Australia's east coast, we started off with a 4-night stay in Sydney.  We decided to stay at the Park Hyatt Sydney as it has been consistently rated as one of the best Hyatt luxury properties worldwide.  The hotel, located in the heart of Sydney Harbor at the Rocks, is famous for its stunning views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Price As a category 8 hotel, the Park Hyatt Sydney is Hyatt's most expensive award category ranging from 35k-45k points per night.  Fortunately, since we were traveling during Australia's "slower" winter season, we were able to get off-peak rates of 35k for most of our nights in a standard 1 King Bed room.
