Hotel room and gym review: Fairfield Inn & Suites Denver West/Federal Center

The Fairfield Inn & Suites Denver West/Federal Center literally shares the same parking lot as my agency's regional office in Lakewood, Colorado, which is just west of Denver.  So I booked a few nights at this hotel as I had work training at the regional office.

The room

I booked a king room suite, which actually didn't have separating rooms like a true suite.  Instead, there was a semi-partitioned extension away from the sleeping area with a sofabed, coffee table, and work desk.

The sleeping area and partitioned extension had identical 55" smart TVs facing opposite of each other, which meant that one remote control could set off the other TV.  HBO on-demand was complimentary, and there were also the options for paid movies and to login in to your existing Netflix account to view content.

The gym

The hotel has a 24 hour fitness center which is accessible with your room key card.  The gym has your standard elliptical and treadmill cardio machines, but no stationary bikes.

There was also a small functional training and stretching area with medicine balls.  The dumbbells went up to 50 lb, which is pretty much only good enough for an arm workout.  Needless to say, I did all of my workouts at the nearby 24 Hour Fitness, which was <5 minute drive away.

The hotel did do a good job of stocking all drinking fountains with filter hydration stations, which does help reduce plastic bottle waste.  Free breakfast is available, which I skipped since I do intermittent fasting.

Bottom line

The Fairfield Inn & Suites Denver West/Federal Center is a pretty basic hotel, but does afford a comfortable stay, especially when factoring in the convenience that it literally shares the same parking lot as my regional office.  The rooms actually weren't true suites, but just had an extension of a working and lounging area.  The gym is also basic, but this is more or less what you'd expect from a Fairfield hotel, which is considered a Marriott mid-grade property.
