Alaska Airlines giving out buy 1 get 1 free flight vouchers for first 40k fans at SF Giants game this Saturday 9/14

Alaska Airlines has long partnered with the San Francisco Giants baseball team, which makes sense as San Francisco Int'l Airport is one of their largest hubs and with neighboring San Jose Int'l Airport as a focus city.  For this Saturday's (9/14) home game against the Miami Marlins, Alaska Airlines will be handing out free buy 1 get 1 free flight vouchers to the first 40,000 attendees.  The vouchers are similar to the ones that come annually with the Alaska Airlines Bank of America co-branded Visa.

The terms and conditions of the free 2 for 1 flight voucher are as follows:

Buy one coach class ticket at the regular price and get a second ticket for just the taxes. Discount code is valid for 50% off coach base fare levels published at alaskaair.com. Valid for itineraries with exactly two people, traveling together and booked and ticketed at the same time in the same reservation and at the same fare; valid for one-way or round-trip travel. If the itinerary is canceled or changed, any refund or credit issued will be for the discounted price for each ticket.

Discount code is valid from Fresno (FAT), Monterey (MRY) Oakland (OAK), Sacramento (SMF), San Francisco (SFO), San Jose (SJC), or Santa Rosa (STS) to any Alaska Airlines city (excluding Prudhoe Bay). Discount does not apply to government imposed taxes and airport fees. Cannot be combined with other promotions.

And travel is valid for the following timeframes:

  • From October 29, 2019 - February 13, 2020
  • Travel to Hawaii, Mexico, or Costa Rica is valid Sundays through Wednesdays
  • Travel from Hawaii, Mexico, or Costa Rica is valid Tuesdays through Fridays
  • All other travel is valid Monday through Thursday and Saturdays
  • Blackout dates of November 21-30, December 1-3, 12-31, 2019, and January 1-7, 2020, apply
  • Discount code must be applied towards purchase of ticket by 11:59pm (PT) on September 17, 2019
It's not surprising that many of the holidays are blacked out.  There is an early booking deadline as your tickets would need to be booked soon by September 17th.  Looking at Vivid, seats for Saturday's game are currently available for as low as $40, so this is a great opportunity if you you were planning on flying with Alaska Airlines with a companion within those timeframes.  The Giants' home, Oracle Park, has a capacity of 41,915, so almost all attendees will be getting one of these free vouchers even on sellout.

And in case you're into Giants swag, Alaska Airlines Bank of America Visa cardholders are eligible for 20% off all in-store purchases at the Giants Dugout Store at Oracle Park through 9/15.
